Why You’ll Love This Recipe
I stumbled upon a version of this a while back when I was desperately searching for easy weeknight dinner ideas (because, duh) and I made a few tweaks to make this maserpiece.

Equipment
- 1 Small Mixing bowl
- 1 Medium pan
- 1 Rice cooker
- 1 medium pot
Ingredients
- 1 pounds Ground chicken breast
- 1/2 cup Diced onion
- 1 tbsp Olive oil
- 1 ½ tbsp Chopped garlic
- 1 inch Fresh ginger grated (or 1 tsp pre-grated ginger)
- 1 tsp Kosher salt
- 1 tbsp Chili garlic sauce
- 2 tbsp Soy sauce low sodium if you're watching your salt!
- 1/4 cup Honey
- 2 tbsp Toasted sesame oil to taste, start with 1 and add more if desired
- 1/3 cup Chicken broth
- 1 tbsp Cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon of water
- Chopped scallions and sesame seeds for garnish
- Fresh black pepper to taste
- Sesame seeds
- 1 cup Jasmine rice any long grain rice
- 1 ¼ cup Water
- 4-6 cups Broccoli frozen, or cut fresh broccoli into ½ inch pieces
- 1 tsp Olive oil
- ¼ tsp Black pepper
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
Instructions
Cook the Rice
- Add in the jasmine rice and the water in the rice cooker.
- Cook until it turns from "cook" to warm. While this cooks, start cooking the sesame chicken.
Cook Sesame Chicken
- In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, roasted sesame oil, and chili garlic sauce. Set aside.
- Heat the olive oil in a medium or large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add in the onions and cook until fragrant for about 2 minutes.
- Add the ground chicken and break it up with a spoon. Cook until it's browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat if there is a lot.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan with the cooked chicken. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Oh my gosh, your kitchen is already smelling good, right?!
- Pour the tasty sauce we mixed earlier over the chicken in the skillet. Turn down the heat and let simmer for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally to make sure the sauce covers all the ground chicken.
- Remove from heat. Serve your amazing sesame ground chicken over rice cooker hot rice (I also use those microwaveable pouches sometimes, don’t tell anyone!) or with some steamed veggies. Top with those pretty sliced green onions and a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds.
Cook the Broccoli
- Pour ½ an inch of water in a medium pot. Heat on high heat until it starts to boil
- Add the broccoli into the pot and reduce to medium heat. Cook for 5-6 minutes. (Do not overcook)
- Turn off the heat. Drizzle olive oil and sprinkle on the salt, pepper, and garlic.
